Russell Cote

Russell Cote is in his 13th year at McKamy Middle School and 23nd year of teaching. His responsibilities include directing Honor Winds, assisting Symphonic Band, and teaching the beginning Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone, Euphonium, and Tuba classes. Mr. Cote's previous teaching positions include Flower Mound High School, Mansfield High School, and Blalack Middle School.
Ensembles under Mr. Cote's direction have consistently earned sweepstakes at UIL Concert & Sightreading contests, as well as runner-up, Best in Class, and Most Outstanding Band of the Day at several music festivals. Honor Winds was selected by the Foundation for Music Education as a Commended Winner in the National Wind Band Honors project in 2011, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2019. The McKamy Honor Winds was awarded 10th Place in the 2013-2014 Texas CCC State Honor Band Contest. Mr. Cote earned his music degree at the University of Texas at Arlington where he served as principal horn in the Wind Ensemble conducted under Ray C. Lichtenwalter and was an active member in the marching band. He earned the 1st ever Jack H. Mahan Director's award for outstanding musicianship, dedication, and service. Mr. Cote marched with the World Champion Cadets of Bergen County in 1993 and 1994, as well as the Sky Ryders Drum and Bugle Corps in 1991. He has performed with the Metropolitan Winds, Legends Brass Quintet, and the Texas Wind Symphony. He has been a two-time participant in the UTA conducting symposium with Richard Floyd and Gary Green. His wife, Marlie, is the music teacher at Garden Ridge Elementary and they have two sons: Ian (17) and Braden (14), dog, Shadow and cat Radar Mr. Cote's professional affiliations include Kappa Kappa Psi, Phi Mu Alpha, TMEA, and TBA. |
Lindsay Abbott

Lindsay Abbott joined the McKamy Band Staff in 2019. Her teaching responsibilities include directing Symphonic Band, Jazz Band, assisting Honor Winds, and teaching the beginning Flute, Double Reed, Clarinet, and Saxophone classes.
Ms. Abbott came to McKamy from Lovejoy ISD where she served as the assistant band director for six years. Under her direction, the Symphonic Band consistently earned superior ratings at the UIL Concert & Sight Reading Contest and at various Music Festivals. |
David Gronneberg

David Gronneberg is excited to join the incredible band staff and community at Flower Mound High School. Prior to his appointment at Flower Mound, he served as the Director of Percussion for the Grain Valley School District from 2008 – 2019. At Grain Valley, he directed three high school percussion ensemble classes; the Marching Eagles Drumline; chamber ensembles; and 6th, 7th, and 8th grade percussion classes.
Under his direction, the GVHS Percussion Ensemble and Drumline garnered national acclaim for both their performance quality and professionalism. The Grain Valley Marching Eagles have earned multiple AA Division Championship awards and Finalist placements at the BOA St. Louis Super Regional. In 2016, the Marching Eagles were honored to perform at the 90thAnnual Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. Under Mr. Gronneberg’s direction, the Grain Valley HS Percussion Ensemble was selected to perform at the Music for All National Percussion Festival in 2015 and 2019. Additionally, the Percussion Ensemble was selected as the 2017 Missouri Music Educator’s Convention Honor Chamber Ensemble. Mr. Gronneberg earned his Master of Arts in Music Education from the University of Central Missouri and his Bachelor of Music Education from Missouri State University. He also spent the summers of 2004, 2005, and 2006 as a member of the Madison Scouts Drum & Bugle Corps. Mr. Gronneberg taught the WGI World Class Drumline Gateway Indoor from 2008 – 2012. Mr. Gronneberg is the immediate Past President for the Missouri Chapter of the Percussive Arts Society and he is an Educational Artist for Innovative Percussion. David Gronneberg looks forward to moving to Texas with his wife, Heather, and his amazing daughter, Lena. |
